If someone needs to log into CareCru at more than one clinic, or you want to have multiple staff using one email account, they can use an email alias. An alias looks like their regular email but has a +something added. All emails still go to their main inbox, but CareCru treats each alias as a separate account.
Example
- Normal email: receptionist@smileclinic.com
- Alias for a second location: receptionist+location2@smileclinic.com
👉 Emails sent to receptionist+location2@smileclinic.com will still arrive in receptionist@smileclinic.com inbox.
Why This Works
- The + tells the email system it's an alias, but to send everything to the main inbox.
- CareCru sees each alias as unique, so the user can log in separately at each location.
How to Set Up Aliases
For each clinic location, just add a +word after the main email:
Examples
- receptionist+location1@smileclinic.com
- receptionist+1@smileclinic.com
- receptionist+abc@smileclinic.com
How to Invite the User
When inviting the user in CareCru:
- Send the invite to the alias email (e.g., receptionist+location2@smileclinic.com).
-
The user must log out of CareCru completely before clicking the new invite link
💡to confirm, they should be on the login screen of CareCru - Open the invite email and set up the account as usual (name, password, etc.).
- Log in with the alias email when accessing that location.
🚨IMPORTANT: If you use a Yahoo email address, please follow the steps in this article to ensure proper functionality.
Tips
- ✅ Always log out before creating a new alias account
- ✅ Use clear names like +vancouver, +toronto, for clarity
- ✅ Remind users to log in with the alias, not the main email
